The “middle market” is a special class of businesses in America. These companies are in the middle of the startup and small business community and multi-billion dollar Fortune 1000 companies.
There is no specific, widely agreed upon definition of businesses that qualify as middle market companies. But, in general, middle market companies generate approximately $100 million to $1 billion in revenues. Lower middle market companies generate annual revenues between $10 million and $100 million.
The Start on Purpose Funding Directory includes expansion-stage and buyout-stage funding resources that invest in lower middle market and middle market businesses. These funds seek to buy entire businesses or buy minority or majority equity stakes in businesses that still can grow with added capital.
